Day One

We set off a little later than we wanted too, but we soon realised that we had no schedule to keep, so who cares what time we left!! Yay for not having anywhere specific to be!! :) Holidays rock!

We only made it to Chittering before the kids wanted to stop and have a look around. Clay and Zappa got to see a blue tongue lizard, but Zappa stood on the poor thing and it got scared and ran away before the kids and I got to see it. Clay snapped a photo though! :)

We managed to stay on the road until we hit New Norcia...the kids were pretty hungry by then so we grabbed some lunch at the little roadhouse there. We were so lucky to be in New Norcia at the same time as a wildlife rescue group pulled in...a lovely man came over to us and asked if the kids would like to bottle feed a baby kangaroo...both kids jumped at the chance (pardon the pun)...even Zappa was quite intrigued by this little furry thing. What an amazing opportunity for the kids to experience just from being in the right place at the right time!

We hit the road again, but only managed to get as far as Paynes Find by dinner time. We were all a little tired and hungry and although we were about 150kms from our target stop of mt magnet, we decided to set up camp and settle in for the night.

Bolgie burgers for dinner and a game of 'Beat the Parents' ended our first night on the road. It has been a wonderful day!... We've got a big day of driving ahead of us tomorrow, so we're having an early night tonight!

Alyssa says
"My favourite thing about today was feeding the kangaroo, and now, it's getting to sleep in the campervan for the first time! I love the campervan!"

Lachlan says
"I loved feeding the kangaroo today...it made me feel really good. I also loved playing 'beat the parents' because we won! We beat you mum and dad!"

Zappa says
"Woof woof...snort...hurumph"

Thanks for reading
